Austin Healey to host Bottom of the Ruck 2010

We are delighted to confirm Austin Healey as our host and compere for the 2010 Bottom of the Ruck Award evening on the 29th November.

Austin is one of England’s most experienced rugby players, with over 250 appearances for Leicester Tigers, more than 50 caps for England and 2 outings with the British Lions. Originally from Merseyside, Austin represented England at U21 and A level before signing with Leicester Tigers in 1996, and making his England international debut the following year.

Austin was renowned for his versatility on the pitch, playing in almost every position behind the scrum and can lay claim to being part of the Tigers squad that won four consecutive Premiership titles.

Since his retirement at the end of 2005/6, Austin has continued to offer his expertise and insight on the game through analysis for most of the major broadcasters and is currently heading up this season’s Aviva Premiership match analysis on ESPN.

He became far more than “a rugby name” in 2008, as part of the line up for the BBC’s sixth series of Strictly Come Dancing. He wowed both viewers and the judges and came 4th overall.

We hope you will join us in welcoming “The Leicester Lip” to Twickenham on the 29th November!
