We hope all who came on the night had a great time and a special thank you to all those who dug deep for our charities. Two lucky ticket holders now own their very own pieces of the Twickenham pitch, and our draw prizes included some fantastic ticket packages and signed items. Well done again to all who bagged one of our prizes and thank you for your generosity.

RugbyRocks is a mass-participation sports and music festival which launched in 2010 at The Athletic Ground and Old Deer Park, Richmond. The initial idea was to fuse the exciting game of rugby sevens with live music and create a top festival atmosphere.

 

The festival has grown fast and in June 2011 they welcomed more than 140 sports teams to RugbyRocks London – around 2,000 players alone taking part in rugby tens, touch rugby and netball as well as sevens. The festival line-up has included Feeder, The Pigeon Detectives, The Parlotones, Just Jack, and Xfm’s Eddy Temple-Morris. Teams have jetted in from South Africa, the USA, France, Holland, Sweden, Germany and Portugal to give the festival a truly international flavour. As well as those playing sport, there have been over 5000 spectators at RugbyRocks festivals taking in all the music, sport on giant screens and sampling some of the finest festival food and drink on offer.

2011 saw the launch of RugbyRocks Edinburgh, and the portfolio of events is now a trio with RugbyRocks Yorkshire also taking place in the summer of 2012.

Bottom of the Ruck will be selling tickets for our Twickenham event on site at RugbyRocks London this summer, and we’re planning plenty of cheeky bottom-related fun and games on offer for spectators. All donations on the day will go straight to the Prostate Cancer Charity and Bottom of the Ruck will be giving a percentage of proceeds from our main 2012 event on 16th June to the Charity as well.

The results of her MRI . . . → Read More: BotR Postponed]]> Owing to circumstances beyond our control, Bottom of the Ruck 2011 has had to be postponed and rescheduled for a new date in spring / summer 2012.

Director Lizi Darragh was rushed into hospital last week for an emergency MRI scan on her back following prior surgery in May of this year. The results of her MRI have indicated serious spinal issues requiring further surgery that is going to be scheduled for some point over the next couple of weeks.  Needless to say this is appalling timing but with one half of our partnership basically out of action for the whole of the crucial remaining run up period to our event, we have been faced with an impossible decision whereby we feel that we cannot do our event justice if we press ahead for the original date of 19th November.

We have decided to postpone until the end of the current season, so our event will now take place on Saturday 16th June 2012, with all event elements remaining in place. We will still be welcoming guests to the St George’s Suite at Twickenham Stadium for our pie and mash and quiz evening, and we hope you will be able to pencil the new date into your diaries.

We are devastated by the situation but needless to say our priority has to be Lizi and making sure her health comes before everything else. We thank you in advance for your continuing support of Bottom of the Ruck and our charities and hope to see you in June – we promise to make it an event worth the wait!

Bottom of the Ruck is delighted to announce that we will once again be welcoming Tickets for Troops to the 2011 Awards. A table for 10 has been donated to this fantastic charity, giving back to our service personnel.

Tickets For Troops was set up in 2009 to provide members of the Armed Forces with free tickets for major sporting events, theatre performances, music concerts and cultural attractions. Since launching it has been donated over 260,000 tickets and almost 100,000 troops have registered on the website www.ticketsfortroops.org.uk.

Operations Director Raleigh Addington said: “Tickets For Troops are delighted that Bottom of the Ruck are once again supporting the cause by donating tickets to their awards. It’s a huge boost to the morale of the troops to have their commitment and dedications recognised by organisations across the country.
